Rally Stop/Bruno's Soap Box Derby

Updated: Jul 16, 2018

This year as part of the grand opening for our Bruno's remodel, and the remodel of our adjoined convenient store and service station_ Providence Center Rally Stop_ we had the joy of hosting the second annual Soap Box Derby!

Royal Hunte Drive has a pretty serious slope, but these cars were prepared!

Start your....engines?

While these cars have no engines they still pick up plenty of speed! Powered only by gravity with basic steering and breaks, these cars can still cruise. Drivers battened down with helmets and padded jackets (mostly because the weather would not cooperate) and man-powered breaks before heading down the hill. The races were close, the wind was crazy, and in the end the final race was between the #8 Rally Stop car and the #16 car for The Grind Coffeehouse.

After two amazingly close photo finishes the Rally Stop car came out on top and driver Wade Nelson claimed his trophy.
